Choosing the Right Window Blinds for You

Category: Blinds & Shutters Tips

products MelbourneAmong the parts of the house that many home owners would frequently modify are the window blinds. Some would redecorate or renovate the whole house and then change the blinds to fit the new look of the entire house. Some would simply change the look of the windows because of the changes in the climate. However, no matter the reason, a change in the design of one’s window blinds could easily make one’s home a little bit cozier and more aesthetically pleasing. But what exactly are window blinds and how does one find the perfect kind of blinds for one’s house?

Window blinds come in different sizes, designs and materials. Some use this term to connote general window coverings. This may include Venetian blinds, roman blinds, vertical blinds, roller blinds, wooden blinds, and woven wooden blinds. Venetian blinds are usually made of an aluminum material and many home owners install this in their homes because it is durable and easy to clean. Venetian blinds are also generally cheaper than the other types of blinds. These blinds feature slats that can resist bending.

Roman blinds, on the other hand, are made from a single sheet of fabric that cascades down to cover the whole window. Roller blinds are made of a single fabric that can be rolled down to also block the entire window opening.  Wooden blinds feature large slats of wood that looks similar to shutters but can be still adjusted using the cords. Some materials that wooden blinds are made of are: Teak, Oak, Mahogany and Beech. Woven wooden blinds would also have a more rural feel to them. This allows the air to pass through the small slits in between the small wooden slats. This makes it a favorite among home owners who live in tropical places. Vertical blinds are simply the vertical version of wooden blinds. The slats are upright and these can be opened or closed by using the adjusting cord as well. All of these blinds feature a different look and work best depending on the circumstances at hand. From the discussion above, window blinds are either made from fabric, wood, metal.
